Fraud Prevention

Fraud Awareness Starts Here

Scammers often rely on urgency, pressure, and deception to catch people off guard. Explore tips and recourses designed to help you recognize common scams and protect your personal and financial information.

Urgent requests -
Scammers often try to create panic or urgency to pressure you into acting quickly without thinking. Be cautious of messages claiming your account is locked, compromised, or requires immediate action.

Suspicious links -
Fraudulent texts and emails may include links that lead to fake websites designed to steal your personal or financial information. Avoid clicking unexpected links or downloading unknown attachments.

Pressure to act quickly -
Scammers rely on fear and pressure to prevent people from verifying information. If someone demands immediate action, payment, or account verification, pause and confirm the request through a trusted source.

Requests for money or personal information -
Be cautious if someone asks for passwords, passcodes, account details, payment information, or money transfers. First State Bank will never request sensitive information through unsolicited calls, texts, or emails.

Unfamiliar Calls or Messages -
Scammers can make phone numbers, emails, and text messages appear legitimate. Even if a message looks official, always verify the source before sharing information.
Scammers may send fake fraud alerts or suspicious links pretending to be trusted companies or financial institutions.

Watch for:

Red Flags:
• Misspellings or unusual wording
