Willie Steele
SVP Branch President NMLS # 1075079
William "Willie" Steele serves as SVP Branch President in Sherman, where he manages and grows the local market for both loans and deposits. With 12 years of banking experience, Willie brings a strong background in residential and commercial construction lending, land acquisition, agriculture, equipment financing, and a wide range of commercial loan solutions. He is especially passionate about helping customers achieve their dreams - whether it's building a new home or launching and growing a business. Willie believes in prioritizing relationships over transactions, focusing on building trust before, during, and long after the loan process. Known for his face-to-face approach, he makes himself readily available to his customers and values strong, personal connections.
Willie is a graduate of Texas Tech University. Before entering banking, he successfully owned and operated a landscape construction company for 20 years. His transition into banking was inspired by a trusted banker who believed in him and shaped his approach to customer relationships. That experience gives him a unique understanding of the challenges and rewards of business ownership, which he brings to his role today.
He has completed the Oklahoma Bankers Association's Consumer & Commercial Lending Schools, the Intermediate Banking School, and is a recent graduate of the Texas Bankers Association Management Development Program. Willie is deeply involved in the Sherman community, having served 10 years on the Sherman City Council, including two years as Deputy Mayor, and previously chaired the Planning and Zoning Board. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Sherman Economic Development Corporation, Boys & Girls Club of Sherman, and the House of Eli. He is also an Elder at Post Oak Fellowship Church and was appointed by Governor Abbott to the Red Rivery Boundary Commission.
Outside the bank, Willie enjoys playing golf with colleagues and customers, as well as managing his family's land and cattle operation, which dates back to 1873. His commitment to service, strong work ethic, and deep community roots makes him a trusted leader in the Sherman area. Willie is especially excited about the opening of the new Sherman facility in 2025, which he sees as another opportunity to strengthen relationships and serve the growing needs of the community.
